The Games
This year - Rebound Rumble
Rebound Rumble is played between two Alliances of three teams each. Each Alliance tries to score as many of the basketballs in the hoops as possible during the 2-minute and 15-second match. Balls scored in higher hoops score more points. Alliances receive bonus points if they are balanced on bridges at the end of the match. In matches where opponent Alliances work together to balance on the white bridge, all participating teams earn additional points.
The first 15 seconds of the game is the Hybrid period. During this period, one robot from each Alliance can control the robot using a Microsoft Xbox Kinect. Shots scored during this period are worth extra points.
Last Year - Logomotion
Logomotion was the name of 2011's FRC competition. The
goal was to place inner tubes shaped like the pieces of the FIRST logo onto a rack to gain points. The game began with a 15 second autonomous period in which the robots attempted to place tubes on the rack with no human intervention or control. If you formed the FIRST logo with the tubes the alliance (3 teams) receive extra points. To get the tubes, the robot have to grab them from a feeding hole on the other side of the field, have a thrower toss tubes to the robot, or pick them up from the ground. At the end of the game, robots deployed minibots to climb a tower. These minibots were built with FIRST Tech Challenge parts.
